“People say, "What is the sense of our small effort?" They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time.”

― Dorothy Day

To organize and develop successful tent communities of varying sizes for homeless individuals. To provide a safe, clean, protected space to live on a continuous basis and  a path for personal development--until permanent housing is available.

Create a Village - On September 8th, 2018 we established a well managed, organized tent village that started out with six residents, currently at nine residents, with an intent to grow to 30 residents.  Hope Village will  serve as a model of what is possible.

Provide Basic Necessities - Provide basic necessities of new tents on platforms, toilets, showers, garbage service, food assistance and other basic necessities in a secured area.

Residents - Individuals whose primary issue is the lack of adequate income have been invited to participate. Hope  Village will be alcohol and drug free. Residents are expected to contribute to daily operations.

Empowerment - We believe that including residents in the planning and operation of the village helps give them a sense of purpose, restores dignity and is essential to building a sustainable model.

Individual  Transitions -  a clean, safe, secure environment allows people to facilitate the reconstruction of their lives, and achieve long term goals of employment, good health and mental stability.

Location - 1039 Ruff Drive, San Jose, CA.  The City of San Jose has leased property to the County of Santa Clara for Hope Village.  We are currently working on expanding the contract to allow us to have up to 30 residents at this location for 18 months.

Expand and Replicate -  As Hope Village becomes established, more residents will be invited to join and more services will be provided. Once a model is established, we believe additional villages can be opened to help more people.

Gain Support - Support from individuals, faith based organizations and various communities organizations will be sought. Support is needed for advocacy, direct services and financial needs.
